Alienware's new gaming laptops get matching Ivy Bridge processors

Alienware's new gaming laptops get Ivy Bridge processors

Alienware is crossing the Ivy Bridge, less than a week since announcing its refreshed family of gaming laptops. Intel's latest hardware will now lend itself to all three models, the M14x (from $1100) M17x (starting at $1500) and M18x (from $2000), replacing the existing Sandy Bridge architecture in the models we saw earlier this month. Starting with the smallest, the M14x will be powered by an Intel Core i7-3820QM (up to 2.7GHz), while larger models will get their processors nudged up to the 2.9 GHz Core i7-3920XM (M17x) and 2.9GHz Core i7-3920XM (M18x). Alienware reckons these new additions will lend a 15 percent increase to the rigs' performance (depending on use), augmenting improvements seen with new PCI Express 3.0 support, mSATA cached storage and the latest generation of NVIDIA graphics. Dell's now ready to take your order -- alongside a mind-boggling number of customization options -- at the source link below.

Temperature Sensitive Rug Changes Colors To Match the Seasons [Wish You Were Here]

When you decorate a room you're stuck with a single color palette all year round that doesn't necessarily reflect the changing seasons outside. So maybe we should look to Siren Elise Wilhelmsen's color-changing rug for inspiration on designing a room that reflects, or contrasts, the temperatures outside. More »

Jennie Garth to Play Nancy Grace in a Lifetime Movie?

Nancy Grace sure has had an interesting life. And now Jennie Garth is playing her alter ego in a Lifetime movie based on the legal analyst's 2009 best-selling novel, The Eleventh Victim. Garth will play Hailey Dean, a young assistant D.A. who prosecutes a case against her fiance's killer. And then -- oh no! -- he targets her when he gets out of jail. Sounds very dramatic and Lifetime-esque, doesn't it?

Katy Perry on American Idol: Pre-Recorded "Part of Me" Performance Booed By Audience

Katy Perry performed on American Idol Thursday night.

Sadly, it was pre-recorded, leading to a chorus of boos from an audience that was beyond pumped for her to treat them to a live rendition of "Part of Me."

While awaiting the week's American Idol results, the crowd was screaming and squealing in anticipation of Perry, one of the biggest stars in music today.

For whatever reason, the stage manager and audience coordinator refused to let the crowd in on the secret that the performance was actually pre-taped.

According to E! Online, they kept teasing enraptured fans, saying, "Should we tell them? Do you want to tell them? OK, let's just let it be a surprise."

That "surprise" sucked royally. Disappointed Katy Perry fans began booing and being vocal about their disapproval of only seeing a pretaped performance.

Pretty weak for sure. Why not just say it up front? Anyway, you can still watch Perry's pre-taped rendition of "Part of Me," her latest hit, after the jump:

For $4500, You Can Drive Around in a Giant Milk Carton and Cereal Bowl [Wtf]

An Oakland-based Burning Man vet is selling this absurd "Mutant Vehicle/Art Car," on Craigslist—fashioned in the likeness of a milk carton and cereal bowl—and has chopped down the price in hopes that some ambitious soul will buy and haul it over to Burning Man this year. More »
